August 13th meeting: CSI; Book Sales and Promotion

Reminder: Our prices are now $25 for RSVP’d AMW members, $30 non-members.

Nowadays, everyone knows what a CSI is. But what do they really do? Please join us in welcoming Bill Brantley, currently with the TPD Property & Evidence Section but who previously worked as a crime scene specialist. (You may remember Brantley from his presentation on evidence in February.)  Brantley will take us through an overview of the Identification Section (crime scene unit), how the work has changed over time, and a few case studies.

We’ll have a delicious lunch, and a fun book drawing.

In our afternoon session, marketing consultant Robin Peel will present “Clues to Author Success: Solving The Mystery of Book Sales and Promotion.” Successful authors excel not only at creating a compelling plot or convincing characters, they also master another kind of writing: “Practical Prose,” the writing that first introduces you or your book to prospective book reviewers, readers and buyers. This presentation will cover tips for writing a concise book synopsis, a book launch news release, event calendar notices, an author bio, social media profiles, and more.

RSVP by 9:30 am, Wednesday, August 10th to save your place. $30 non-members includes lunch. $25 RSVP’d AMW members. Pay at the door. RSVP by clicking the button on http://www.meetup.com/Arizona-Mystery-Writers-of-Tucson/ or email amwmembershipchair@gmail.com. See you there!
